I’m sharing this because some of you are probably readers of the #TheNewYorkTimes I stopped subscribing a while ago because I don’t believe they can be trusted and are almost as bad as the #NYPost. At least with the NY Post, you know you’re getting a biased, incomplete, partisan version of the truth or an outright lie. The NYT is much more dangerous as it’s more trusted and its lies come wrapped in a veneer of truth and fact-finding.
As you may recall, I’ve experienced some disturbing instances of ruzzian propaganda and wild, far-fetched conspiracies being repeated to me by so-called “freelance journalists” at the Society of Professional Journalists events in NYC.
Who uses freelance journalists? Mainstream publications like The New York Times
This is not the first time I’ve noticed mainstream media taking disturbing directions, and I doubt I can stop it, but at least I can raise awareness about it.
Can you imagine how exhausted Ukrainians must be, having to fight a brutal war, ruzzian propaganda, and also the mainstream media companies who absolutely should know better. I know how they feel every time I have to answer a “friend” who repeats ruzzian propaganda, says stuff like “Who started that war anyway?” or “What side are you one?” or “Ukraine can’t win” or “Have fun” when they find out I’m in Ukraine, or almost as bad, are just silent, meaning you know what they’re thinking.
I’m exhausted, exasperated, and just plain down on the world. But I, like Ukraine, won’t give up. I can’t.
Hopefully, the photos will display in the intended order. It’s about a 45-second read. #Disinformation #misinformation #Misleading #Journalism #Ukraine
PS This young journalist Caolin Robertson is worth a follow. He breaks this situation down even more succinctly and puts the mighty New York Times journalism to shame.
From the Kyiv Independent (Also a wonderful resource, I recommend subscribing. I do).
